Your Girl Friday

Well, I kept re-taking and re-taking this silly test, trying in vain to get the result that my inner Classic Dame is Carole Lombard. The problem with this particular test is that so many of the answers would work for me, depending on my current mood. I re-took it for the last time this morning, being as honest as possible instead of anticipating Carole-esque answers, deciding that whatever I got was my true match. Behold, your humble blogger houses within the comely form and outrageous attitude of:
Rosalind Russell

You scored 21% grit, 52% wit, 28% flair, and 11% class!

You are one wise-cracking lady, always quick with a clever remark and easily able to keep up with the quips and puns that come along with the nutty situations you find yourself in. You're usually able to talk your way out of any jam, and even if you can't, you at least make it more interesting with your biting wit. You can match the smartest guy around line for line, and you've got an open mind that allows you to get what you want, even if you don't recognize it at first. Your leading men include Cary Grant and Clark Gable, men who can keep up with you.

Find out which classic leading lady you most resemble by taking the Classic Dames Test.

Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test.

Don't you love this ridiculous hat?

My husband LOVES Myrna Loy (he calls her "Hottie Loy"). Ever seen the Thin Man series? Myrna Loy and William Powell go together on screen like Banana Pudding and 'Nilla Wafers!

Weren't they all just so gorgeous back then? Even the not-so-gorgeous (Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis) were made to look marvelous with lighting, make-up and a bunch of sassy style!

Classic movies rule!!

Still wish I were Carole Lombard, though. I'm going to be jealous if any of you post here that you are!

Katherine Hepburn. I'd want to be Audrey Hepburn, but that would never happen. I'm not cute and winsome enough for that. =(

Other interesting things of note:

You scored 16% grit, 19% wit, 52% flair, and 26% class!

You scored higher than 27% on grit

You scored higher than 24% on wit

You scored higher than 86% on flair

You scored higher than 43% on class

Man - according to those statistics, I'm dumb and pliable but I know how to dress well. *sigh*

Took the test a second time, choosing answers which I had strongly considered but rejected the first time around and got Rosalind Russell.

You scored 23% grit, 47% wit, 19% flair, and 23% class!

You scored higher than 58% on grit

You scored higher than 93% on wit

You scored higher than 5% on flair

You scored higher than 36% on class

Hmmm. So I can be witty but completely without flair, or have tons of flair and no wit. =D

Carole Lombard
You scored 14% grit, 23% wit, 38% flair, and 35% class!
You're a little bit of a fruitcake, but you always act out in style. You have a good sense of humor, are game for almost anything, but you like to have nice things about you and are attracted to the high life. You're stylish and modern, but you've got a few rough edges that keep you from attaining true sophistication. Your leading men include William Powell, Fredric March, and Clark Gable. Watch out for small planes.

Well Justine, Eat your heart out.

I can't say I'm happy about it though. I resemble that description and I'd rather be able to say that I overcome that description.

Arielle,

I would give my right arm to score higher than 93% on wit.

What the heck is "flair"? Can anybody explain this to me?

I've had many people in my life ask me, "Do you always do things with such flair?"

Does anyone else get that question and what the heck is it? I'd really like to know.

You are class itself, the calm, confident "perfect woman." Men turn and look at you admiringly as you walk down the street, and even your rivals have a grudging respect for you. You always know the right thing to say, do and, of course, wear. You can take charge of a situation when things get out of hand, and you're a great help to your partner even if they don't immediately see or know it. You are one classy dame. Your screen partners include William Powell and Cary Grant, you little simmerpot, you.

I took it again because it was so much fun the first time around. There were only 4 questions that I answered differently - although I believe I answered more truthfully the first time around.

Anyway, Looks like Andrea and I are the same hot siren.

Life is good.

Flair? Being able to present oneself in a charismatic, noticeable fashion. Dramatic. Those are some of my associations with the term 'flair'.

I got Katherine Hepburn as well (Arielle, we always seem to get the same results! lol). I scored high in flair, which is funny, cause I really don't think I have flair!
I always liked Katherine. I think I do relate to her better than say, Audrey.

Ha!Ha! I'd never in a million years call Katherine Hepburn "dumb" or "pliable." Makes you wonder what those test writers were thinking!

Aaaaah Flicka! Just another reason to envy you! I'd stick with Carole over Myrna any day -- I think La Lombard had a lot more fun! No offense to Andrea or Hottie Loy herself -- there are trade-offs even when you are the "perfect" woman!

Found the end remark about "small planes" rather tasteless on the part of the test writers, though.

We should all be grateful not to test as Bette Davis -- damn, what a fine actress, but not a person I'd want to emulate!

Another lady I would not have minded testing as would be Barbara Stanwyck -- I just love The Lady Eve!

And what exactly is the deal with your menfolk regulars? Aren't they dying to know what leading man they take after?

Oh, wait. Maybe this is just one of those inherently female curiosities. Only a woman would be interested in what kind of leading man a person is and conversly, a man could care less what kind of leading lady a woman takes after.

Well, I'm all woman and proud of it.

Ha! Jason was anxious to know what sort of leading man he'd make. Then, he tested as John Wayne and was very disappointed -- he was hoping for Cary Grant or Clark Gable or William Powell or, even, Humphrey Bogart! My poor hubby is too tough for his own good! Probably, if he tested again, he'd come out as Gable -- I think he's much more Gable than Wayne.

BTW, when I tested myself for leading man, I was Cary Grant. Natch!

John Wayne
You scored 52% Tough, 19% Roguish, 9% Friendly, and 19% Charming!
You, my friend, are a man's man, the original true grit, one tough talking, swaggering son of a bitch. You're not a bad guy, on the contrary, you're the ultimate good guy, but you're one tough character, rough and tumble, ready for anything. You call the shots and go your own way, and if some screwy dame is willing to accept your terms, that's just fine by you. Otherwise, you'll just hit the open trail and stay true to yourself. You stand up for what you believe and can handle any situation, usually by rushing into the thick of the action. You're not polished and you're not overly warm, but you're a straight shooter and a real stand up guy. Co-stars include Lauren Bacall and Maureen O'Hara, tough broads who can take care of themselves.

Test yourself for leading man...hmmm. Interesting idea. Okay. I found it impossible to think like a man. IMPOSSIBLE! The answers I chose were really the kind of man I'm attracted to.

John Wayne - no surprise there. The man makes my heart beat faster just to look at him.

Now his son Ethan is, or was, a total babe but came with psycho-sex-sadist baggage.
