How Annoying

I know, I know, it's been an age since hide or hair of a new post has been seen on this blog, and I'm a stinker. But, this will just be a short item about something new that is so supremely annoying within the cult of celebrity worship: The Combined Names.

Didn't it start with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's romance when the fluff-media started calling the two "Bennifer?" Ugh.

Oh, but how clever they are! How cutesy-fartsy-barfy the whole thing is!

Now we have:
Bennifer 2 -- Ben Affleck (again) with Jennifer Garner
Brangelina -- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
TomKat -- Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes

What do these couples have in common, besides their vomit-inducing nicknames? Yep, tell-tale stomach bumps on the chicks without the wedding ring. Although, I think Affleck (Worst Actor Ever) and Garner have since tied the knot (probably pretty loosely).

Most celebrities are so rich and so coddled and so adulated and so famous for so little. There is a disgusting level of celebrity worship in America today. I probably shouldn't even lend credence to it, but I just had to express my distaste.

And, yes, I do feel a little better now.

Oh Goodness! I think you're right! It did start with Bill and Hillary, didn't it? I was also thinking that the fluff-media were probably relieved when Paris Hilton broke up with Paris Whatever-His-Last-Name-Was. No cute combo there.

Is my computer broken? What happened to your brilliant commentary on the nature of beasts whether they be bears, tigers or Muslims?

P.S. Alas, it has been so long since my last visitation that I've totally and completely forgotten my user name and password!

I never understood the fascination with celebrities lives, they're usually such a train wreck.

But someone must be buying those National Enquirers, otherwise the markets wouldn't stock 'em.

Seems to me it's just another form of idolatry, Amigo.
